Managing AI crawlers or authorizing AI work in WordPress?
“I want to control AI access to my website” can describe two very different needs. You may want to state how crawlers should visit your public pages. You may also want your own assistant to prepare a draft in WordPress.
The first is a policy for public access. The second is permission to perform work. Better Robots.txt and PAGUP Agent Control address these distinct contexts; neither should be presented as a replacement for the other.
When AI reads your public website
A search engine or assistant may look for information in your published pages. The questions concern accessible resources, crawler instructions and the usage boundaries you communicate.
Better Robots.txt works on this WordPress crawl-governance layer. Published declarations do not create a user account or grant permission to edit your website. Nor do they, on their own, provide a technical barrier against a system that ignores them.

When your assistant needs to do a job
Preparing an article inside WordPress is a different operation. You need to identify the site, the connection, the authorized task and the result you expect.

A robots.txt setting is not permission to create content. An Agent Control connection, in turn, does not define the policy for every crawler visiting your domain.

A simple example: prepare a draft
Choose a published service page you are authorized to share. Your goal is to prepare a new article explaining one aspect of that page, not to change the service page itself.

A prompt is not an access control
A request such as “do not publish anything” expresses intent. It does not configure the connection’s technical permissions by itself. Set up the work with appropriate access in the product, then verify it in WordPress.
Ending a task and ending a connection are also different actions. Ending a task removes its temporary permissions; depending on the workflow, public reading may remain available while the connection is active. To stop the connection’s tools, follow the documented pause or revocation procedure.
Advanced REST profiles are another workflow. Do not automatically transfer the guided task model’s rules to those profiles.
Choose according to the problem
For crawl instructions, begin with Better Robots.txt and its documentation. To have your assistant prepare WordPress work, examine Agent Control’s workflow. To revise text you provide directly in a conversation, a site connection may not be necessary at all.
You may need both products at different times. Their complementarity comes from the problems they address, not from an assumed native integration or automatically shared permissions.

Does Agent Control replace robots.txt?
No. Your assistant’s access to WordPress work and your policy for public crawlers are separate questions.
Does Better Robots authorize AI to edit my posts?
A crawl instruction is not editing permission in WordPress. Work tasks need their own access configuration.
Do I need a connection to review a public page?
Not necessarily. An assistant with web access may examine a public page without this plugin. Evaluate the value of a connection against the actual work you want to perform.
Does the plugin include an AI assistant?
No. You use your own compatible account. Check its connection options and the product prerequisites before starting.
