Better Robots.txt situational applicability map

This page explains the practical SAL map published at /situational-applicability-map.json.

The map does not describe every feature. It declares a limited set of practical chains where an agent can connect an indirect need to a Better Robots.txt capability without turning that connection into an automatic recommendation.

Chain structure

Every chain includes:

  • a linked CCL context;
  • an applicable capability with canonical URL;
  • activation conditions;
  • non-applicability conditions;
  • required evidence;
  • allowed agent use;
  • forbidden inferences;
  • abuse boundaries;
  • risk class and domain.

Current chains

The current proposed chains cover AI crawler governance, /check public audit, llms.txt guidance, WooCommerce crawl hygiene and agentic readiness boundary clarification.

Non-goal

The map does not self-measure applicability. It declares conditions. Measurement belongs to an external audit.
